Waves

July 2014

Category: ,

This work was inspired by the photographs of Pierre Carreau who produced a whole body of images of waves from the carribean island of St Bartelemy. His work is not just about water but also about the light. I tried to capture the metallic, almost mercurian, look of his waves and used irridescent paint & media to help build in light throughout the painting. I like this piece because of the movement. I have it framed without glass as it has a tactile feel to it.

Acrylic on canvas, painted with a pallet knife.
